So here it is! My journal/blog that I hope to use to share all of my adventures and stories, and to keep up with everyone I love and miss from home. As I am pretty much a novice when it comes to computers and social networks, please bear with me because I've "researched" other blogs and mine is painfully elementary in the blogging world. But if you will look past my amateur writing and computer skills, I would love to share my time here with you and let you know what's going on in my life. So if you're interested, welcome to Belize!

hola
Of all of the things to ask, one of the first questions I received once people found out I was moving to Belize for the year was "are you going to keep a journal?" Now I did the whole diary thing growing up, and wrote about what boy I liked or what friend was being mean that day, but I haven't consistently kept a journal in years. I write from time to time when things are weighing on my mind or I can't organize my thoughts, and I used to think I was pretty good at it...kind of like the time I thought I was good at singing in 6th grade (I'm not, by the way). But I am by no means a writer of any kind, and definitely lack the eloquence that a successful writer possesses. So when people asked me about keeping a journal while I'm in Belize, I was kind of taken aback; the idea hadn't even occurred to me. Yet the more I talked to others who had been on similar trips or adventures, the more appealing the idea became. Then came the even crazier suggestion that I should start not just a journal, but a blog that others could keep up with (hats off to Alexis for that genius idea).

AWOLNATION
Okay, so ignore the War of the Wordsesque music video, and this song is legit. I love it. It's super creepy, and given the impending holiday it is perfect. Just make sure you don't judge the song based on the first few measures, you've got to give it a little time and I promise it'll grow on you. I don't know much about the rest of the album yet, but if it's anything like this song I'm psyched.

The Civil Wars
As of late, I haven’t been able to listen to anything else. Everyone should check out their newest album, Barton Hollow. My favorites right now are “My Father’s Father” and “Barton Hollow”, but “Poison & Wine” is beautiful. If you like folk with a bluegrass feel, this is perfection.
